Advantages/Strengths

A new bookmarks software, LinkStash resembles the tree-style format currently used in the previous Internet Explorer versions. What makes this particular software product more preferable is the fact that you can use it simultaneously with your regular Explorer favorites/bookmarks file handler. For instance, you can opt to use LinkStash to handle a bulk folder of your favorites while keeping the features of the Explorer for the smaller list of your frequently-visited sites.

But then, why keep two bookmarks manager when only one can get the job done quite efficiently? With LinkStash, you get the standard Explorer-type of bookmarking sites, which is a tree-type site format and you get a lot more. For starters, there is an automated password system at LinkStash which is obviously included for security purposes. The passwords are usually your creations and will be in effect after you have bookmarked your preferred sites in LinkStash.

For more attractions and to allow quick and easy identification of your bookmarked sites, LinkStash also has a highlight feature where you can arrange your files into custom-made formats that you personally created. This can also serve as a personal statement as well as a way of identifying yourself as a unique individual.

Disadvantages/Weaknesses

With all the great features that this software can offer the consumers, there is no doubt that LinkStash may soon find itself on top of the online bookmarks category. Its features outnumber its closest rivals -- the favorites page of the Internet Explorer. Yet, LinkStash has chosen to play it safe by allowing its clients to still have entry to the Explorer's bookmarks section.

This is perhaps the only drawback of LinkStash. It has yet to establish its own identity. It still has to be somehow connected to the giant that is the Explorer and even to the smaller players like Netscape in order to be noticed by software consumers.

But this will most likely be only a temporary setback for LinkStash. If it can come up with newer and fresher features, it may just gain sufficient financial resources to put up its own site to beat its present partners. By then, customers can log on to the LinkStash website the way they've always done with Netscape and Internet Explorer and directly manage their bookmarked sites from there. No need to link with outside sites while using a Linkstash software. Of course, LinkStash's plans may take a while before being executed. For now, LinkStash has a great bookmark offering. Enjoy it and benefit from its highly efficient functionalities.

Price

Purchasing a LinkStash software involves a unique, but easy procedure. First off, the software costs around $19.95 and buyers can avail of LinkStash in two ways: by purchasing the software online using credit cards or by post through cash, check or money order. The purchase includes a warranty of 30 days and if within that time period the buyer is not satisfied with LinkStash, he can get his money back.

Before sending the payment, the prospective customer first has to buy a code or serial number that LinkStash will send him through his email after he has completed the order form. Once he receives his serial number, he must enter the number in the Purchase/Register page of the LinkStash website. After the confirmation, he can then send his payment through online.

Software Size

The LinkStash software has an average size of about 866 kilobytes. However, more than just the software size, the most important feature of LinkStash is its capability to use up less space. In a standard floppy diskette, LinkStash will take up a small area, especially when one attempts to compare it to the bookmark space being eaten up by Internet Explorer. The Explorer stores every bookmarked site separately, eventually taking up larger space. So if for example, there are 531 bookmarked sites, the Explorer will use at least 2.14MB of storage space. LinkStash, on the other hand, will consume only 72KB.

Operating System Required/Compatibility

The LinkStash software works well with Windows-powered operating systems, most specifically with the latter versions such as Win95, Win98, WinNT 4x, WinXP, WinME, and Windows 2000. This is probably one of the reasons LinkStash has been able to attract a growing number of customers. With thousands, maybe even millions of users of the world-famous Windows operating systems, LinkStash comes as no big surprise to find a steady stream of internet browsers gradually enjoying the many benefits of using the software.

What made the software enjoy immediate success and popularity its decision to team up with the giant -- Internet Explorer (IE.) Its partnership with (IE) allowed its clients to use the Explorer's favorites/bookmark feature instead of asking them to stick with the software in spite of the fact that the LinkStash has many outstanding features that can beat the Explorer. This is obviously a great marketing strategy, and for the most part, a highly-effective, profit-building tactic.

Eventually, LinkStash may have to go on its own and try to establish a name of its own totally separate from the Explorer. Yet, that will probably take some time. For now, LinkStash is just one great software that enjoys great success.

License

LinkStash softwares are available in websites that sell reliable sharewares. This marketing method, which is commonly used in promoting commercial softwares, helped LinkStash increase its sales. Typically, softwares under this marketing method are offered to interested parties for free, thus it allows non-obligatory trial of the softwares.

Since LinkStash falls under the shareware merchandising system, consumers naturally find it very accessible. Ostensibly, this has made the software quite popular. And with its many outstanding features, LinkStash has cornered a major market in the online bookmarks category. Its try-first-before-buying scheme combined with some very effective features has made LinkStash one of the major players in its chosen field.
